65 Years in Road Science!
The Kazakhstan Road Research Institute is the only scientific institute specializing in road infrastructure in the republic, operating since 1959. It was established to address the challenges faced by the road industry concerning the specific natural and climatic conditions of Kazakhstan, focusing on the design, construction, and maintenance of highways.
Today, the Institute is fully equipped with the necessary equipment for diagnosing highways and bridge structures, assessing the quality of road construction materials and work, and providing scientific and technical support to the road industry. The Institute is certified by the Ministry of Science and Education, and its testing laboratory is accredited by the State Standard for Technical Competence.
KazdorNII concentrates the main potential of leading scientists and highly qualified personnel of the highway industry, allowing to solve a wide range of engineering problems at a high level. The Institute has 134 permanent employees, including 3 Doctors of Science, 3 Candidates of Science, 3 PhDs and 20 Masters of Science.
The Institute is actively involved in reforming and updating the regulatory and technical framework of the industry, as well as developing new standards to meet modern requirements. These standards incorporate new technologies, digital products, and innovative mechanisms to revolutionize the design, construction, and maintenance of highways.
KazdorNII collaborates on joint research projects with leading scientists from the USA, Europe, China, Canada, and other countries, publishing in renowned international scientific journals such as Web of Science/Scopus. Additionally, the institute is dedicated to digitalizing the industry and training engineering and technical staff.
Moreover, the institute develops its own products to enhance the quality of road construction materials, ensure safety, and promote digitalization within the road industry. To date, the Institute has developed 6 new digital software products, including:

BOMS – Bridge Operation Management System
RCMBase – Unified Database of Road Construction Materials and New Technologies
Jolshy – Qualification Base for Employees of the Road Industry
Jollab – Information System for Research Laboratories
Price Monitoring – Application Software Solution for Price Collection Formation
KazdorNII JSC also organizes and conducts advanced training courses for road industry specialists. From 2006 to 2024, the Center for Advanced Training trained 2 570 industry employees, including 1 896 engineering and technical workers and 674 laboratory assistants.
Furthermore, the research conducted by the institute has practical applications, resulting in patents for inventions. Over a span of 12 years (2012-2024), “KazdorNII” JSC received 19 patents for inventions and utility models, including 4 international patents and 4 certificates for copyrighted objects.
Since June 2022, the institute has been under the leadership of Alibayeva Arman Khalilollovna.
