A substantial increase in interest for professional development courses among road sector specialists has been observed since the beginning of the year in Kazakhstan. Over a period of less than nine months, about 300 specialists have applied to the Competence Development Center at KazdorNII. Last year, this figure was only achieved by the end of the year.
“Road workers need to keep abreast of the latest developments. Technologies and innovations do not stand still, new solutions emerge every day, and regulations get updated in accordance with international standards. Therefore, if we want to achieve quality on the roads, specialists need to regularly upgrade their skills. The demand for industry knowledge increases every year. Initially, our courses covered 25 topics, but now we already have as many as 33. We also provide courses at the request of commissioning parties. In addition to online and offline classes, we also offer on-site courses,” noted Guljamal Umarova, candidate of technical sciences - director of the Competence Development Center at KazdorNII JSC.
In order to solve the problem of staff shortage in the road industry, KazdorNII JSC has created a digital database for road industry professionals last year. The Jolshy database will contain information regarding all professionals in the industry, including data regarding qualifications, work experience and certificates of advanced training. Employers will be able to select the right personnel.
As of today, work is underway to fill the database and integrate it with other state systems. It is expected that the database will be up and running by the end of the year.
