JSC “KazdorNII” is continuing to develop national standards for implementation of “Superasphalt” technology in Kazakhstan. Therefore, domestic scientists had a meeting with one of the specialists involved in the development of this technology, Professor Hussain Bahia, and with representative of Honeywell (USA). Within the framework of cooperation, the perspectives of adaptation of the advanced technology to improve the durability and performance of roads in Kazakhstan were discussed. Cooperation with American experts is carried out both on methodological and scientific-practical level and is aimed at increasing inter-repair periods and reducing operating costs.

“A roadmap has been developed for the gradual implementation of the Superasphalt methodology in road projects for the period of 2025-2030. This methodology has successfully proven itself in the US, Russia and other countries. The first stage involves the development of national standards. Currently, KazdorNII is finalizing three essential national standards necessary for the introduction of “Superasphalt” technology. As early as next year, the first kilometers of asphalt concrete pavements will be built according to the new standards within the framework of the pilot project,” said Erik Amirbayev, Vice President of KazdorNII JSC.

In the following years, scientific and technical support of pilot projects and monitoring of experimental sites will also be carried out. Following the results, the effectiveness of the introduction of technology “Superasphalt” will be assessed, which will allow to make a decision on the transition to new standards. The methodology takes into account the operating conditions of bituminous binders in specific regions, as well as transportation loads and traffic intensity. The introduction of these standards will be an important step in the modernization of the country's infrastructure, which will significantly increase the service life of roads and reduce maintenance costs.

Let us recall that “Superasphalt” technology has been successfully applied in the USA and in more than 120 countries around the world and allows designing pavements with high resistance to climatic conditions and heavy traffic, which is especially relevant for Kazakhstan with its diverse climatic zones.
