Kazakhstan's road construction industry is actively implementing FIDIC international standards, one of the most stringent and recognized global regulations in the field of infrastructure project management. This approach ensures quality, transparency and manageability at all phases of large infrastructure projects.
FIDIC contracts cover the entire project life cycle, from design and procurement to engineering supervision, construction and final acceptance of facilities. Within these standards, the Project Management Consultant (PMC) plays a key role, whose task is to ensure compliance with all requirements, minimize risks and support the implementation of projects at every stage.
"Working with FIDIC involves systematic project management. It is not enough to simply adhere to the construction schedule; every technological operation must fully comply with international requirements, and strict discipline must be maintained at all levels. The main task of the PMC is to identify and eliminate deviations in a timely manner, ensuring high quality of the final result," explained Aidos Doskarayev, Head of Investment Project Management at KazdorNII JSC.
This practice has been actively used in Kazakhstan since 2010. Kazakhstan Road Research Institute (KazdorNII) has gained solid expertise in the implementation of engineering projects involving engineering supervision and technological support for the construction of motorways, and since 2010, in project management as consultants (PMC) In total, it has 19 years of experience in interacting with international structures and supporting complex infrastructure initiatives. During this time, with the participation of consultants, a number of large sections of motorways have been implemented, including:the Western Europe-Western China transit corridor (Kyzylorda and Turkestan regions (South Kazakhstan Region)), the Kurty-Burylybaital highway (85 km), the Uzynagash-Otar highway (96 km), and the Kyzylorda-Zhezkazgan highway (216 km), the Kurty-Kapshagay (Kunaev) highway (67 km).
“FIDIC is not only a system of contracts, but also an international quality discipline. Its implementation allows many risks to be prevented at the design stage and eliminates the need for modifications at the construction completion stage,” add KazdorNII experts.
The widespread use of FIDIC standards in Kazakhstan has been an important step in the development of a modern project management culture. This approach improves the quality of projects and strengthens the position of Kazakhstani specialists on the international professional scene.
