On one of the sections of the road “Mukur - Kulsary” in Atyrau region started the application of stabilizing additive for soil “QSmart - S” - an innovative development of scientists of “Kazakhstan Road Research Institute” (KazdorNII). The material is designed to strengthen weak and unstable soils, which prevents deformation and settlement of the roadbed.
Earlier the additive was tested on two pilot objects in different climatic zones of Kazakhstan and proved its effectiveness. As noted in the Institute, the policy of unification of additives is currently being implemented: the composition of each is modified for a particular type of soil and region.
"The work is carried out within the framework of a pilot project on the application of new materials. Taking into account that in Atyrau region there is a mixed type of soil, and it is both solonchak, loam and sandy loam, before the beginning of works during three months scientists of the Institute studied the soil of this section, all chemical analyses and laboratory selections were carried out. To ensure compliance with regulations, technology and quality of application of “QSmart - S” on the section, the work is accompanied by our representative”, - said the director of the department of road-building materials and new technologies ‘KazdorNII’ Kabdygalieva Meiramgul.
The additive is part of the “QSmart” line - a series of domestic scientific developments, which includes more than ten products. Among them is a new catalyst “QSmart - K”, designed to transform sand particles into more stable sedimentary structures. This technology, according to the developers, prevents sand from being washed out by groundwater during operation, thus preventing settlement of the foundation and has no analogues in Kazakhstan.
