At the moment the Testing Laboratory of “KazdorNII” JSC Almaty branch carries out work to simulate the long-term aging of the bituminous binder in the composition of the asphalt concrete pavement, where the binder is exposed to high pressure (2.1 MPa) and high temperature (90-110 ᵒС) for 20 hours.
The group chemical composition of bitumen is also determined. The investigated bitumen in a chromatographic column under the action of chemical solvents is divided into such chemical groups as: resins, oils and asphaltenes.
Also, work is underway on the BBR rheometer to test the bitumen beam for bending. This is done to determine the low temperature properties of bituminous binders. A load is applied to a sample of bituminous binder in the form of beams at a given negative temperature. The deflection of the middle of the beams is measured. The stiffness and the rate of stress reduction in the sample are calculated.
