Unlike traditional de-icing material, the composition developed in Kazakhstan effectively resists ice formation, does not spoil shoes, does not destroy asphalt and does not harm the environment. Scientists of the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute made a presentation of the recently patented de-icing material at the road exhibition in Astana. The main feature of the domestic development is the ability to melt ice in a wide range of low temperatures - from 0 to -30°C. By means of it anti-icing properties are preserved for a long time after the initial melting of ice. At the same time calcium contained in the composition strengthens the strength of concrete pavements and protects their surface from peeling, and phosphorus has a favorable effect on roadside greenery. The authors of the invention note that unlike existing de-icing liquids, the formula of the new reagent does not contain sodium chloride or ordinary salt, which destroys roads, ruins plants and spoils shoes and car parts. “We have noticed that foreign de-icing technologies, which work well up to -10°C, only partially dissolve ice, and as the temperature drops further, melt water freezes again. Therefore, the roads are often covered with layers of ice, which only makes the icy conditions worse. To solve this problem, we have developed a fundamentally different de-icing material. Its composition quickly dissolves ice and prevents it from settling down to -30°C. We invite everyone to see its effectiveness and advantages in the laboratory of the Institute”, reported the press service of “KazdorNII” JSC. After approbation at the pilot site, the institute plans to attract investors and launch widespread production of the new de-icing agent.
