Since the start of 2024, Kazakhstan has seen a significant increase in interest in professional development courses among road specialists. In less than nine months, nearly 300 specialists have applied to KazdorNII's Competence Development Center - a figure that last year was only reached by the end of the year.

"Road workers need to keep up to date with the latest developments. Technologies and innovations do not stand still, new solutions appear every day, and regulations are updated in accordance with international standards. Therefore, if we want to achieve quality on the roads, specialists need to regularly upgrade their skills. The demand for industry-specific knowledge increases every year. Previously, our courses covered 25 areas, but now there are already 33. We also conduct courses on request from customers. In addition to online and offline classes, field programs are available,“ said Guljamal Umarova, PhD, Director of the Competence Development Center of KazdorNII.

In order to address the problem of staff shortage in the road industry, JSC "KazdorNII" last year created a digital database of professionals in the road industry. The Jolshy database of road workers will contain information on all professionals in the industry, including data on qualifications, work experience and certificates of advanced training. For employers, there is an opportunity to select the right personnel.

At present, the database is being filled in and integrated with other state systems. It is expected that the database will be put into operation by the end of the year.
