January 2023 has already been marked by an unprecedented demand for additional professional education In Kazakhstan, since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in the interest of road industry specialists in improving their own skills. Only in 2 weeks of January, 105 road builders applied to the Training Center of the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute. This number is 3 times higher than in the first quarter of 2022, when only 28 people were enrolled in the courses. “Road builders should always be aware of the latest developments. The demand for industry knowledge has increased. If earlier our courses covered only 7 topics, now we have developed up to 22. At the request of clients, we provide the courses that they need. In addition to online classes, even off-site courses have appeared,” says Gulzhamal Umarova, director of the training center of “KazdorNII” JSC. At the moment, the first capital advanced training courses are being held in the laboratory of “KazdorNII” in Astana. Previously, the Institute held them only in Almaty. The course program is devoted to the topic of quality control of road construction materials and works. Students get acquainted with the methods of testing soil, mineral powder and stone materials. In addition, specialists exchange their own experience with each other at specially allotted time. As previously reported, an acute shortage of qualified specialists has formed in the field of road construction in Kazakhstan. In this regard, in order to improve the situation, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed “KazdorNII” to develop the work of the Training Center, which teaches the theory and practice of road construction in laboratory conditions. In addition, the institute has begun work on a draft law, according to which road workers will be required to regularly improve their skills.
