The Central Asian International Conference “Roads of the Future” has started at the International Exhibition Center “EXPO”, Astana. This milestone event is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of JSC “Kazakh Road Research Institute” (KazdorNII) and gathered experts, scientists and officials from 20 countries.

During the plenary session the staff of the Institute received congratulations from the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Deputy Secretary General of the World Road Association (PIARC) Miguel Caso Flores and Vice-President of the Korean Road Association Hee Chul Choi. The head of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan in his speech noted the growth potential of the industry and outlined plans for the development of transport corridors of the republic.

The main topics of discussions during the conference are built around the thesis “New technologies for the new generation: 65 years - through tradition to innovation” and cover innovative technologies, sustainable transportation facilities and road safety.

The sessions are focused on various know-how in the field of digitalization, cheaper, energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of road and bridge construction and maintenance, nano- and biotechnologies for improving the strength and durability of road materials, implementation of AI for road asset management and improving road safety.

In addition, specialists from different countries discuss modern solutions in the field of personnel training, coordination of research and development works and optimization of road standards.

To mark the anniversary of KazdorNII, a ceremonial reception was held as part of the conference, during which due honors were given to the industry veterans and scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of road science and infrastructure in Kazakhstan.

We are proud of our team, which for decades has demonstrated high professionalism, dedication and commitment to progress”, said the President of JSC ‘KazdorNII’ Arman Alibayeva at the award ceremony.

Kazakhstan Road Research Institute is the only scientific institute of road segment in the republic, functioning since 1959. It was established to solve problems related to the design, construction and operation of highways in the specific natural and climate conditions of Kazakhstan.

At present the institute is fully equipped with equipment for diagnostics of highways, assessment of materials quality and scientific support of projects. Its team has 134 employees, including PhDs and Candidates of Sciences, as well as young specialists. KazdorNII has received 19 patents for inventions, including international patents, which confirms its leadership in scientific developments.

Since 2022, KazdorNII has developed a number of significant and unique digital products for the road sector, including the Road Network Management System (RNMS), the Bridge Operation Management System (BOMS), the Unified Base of Road Construction Materials and New Technologies, the Digital Base of Road Professionals Jolshy, and the electronic platform for laboratories Jollab, which contribute to transparency and speed in solving a wide variety of tasks in the road construction industry.
